Casting
Cordelia: (SHE/HER, 20s). The protagonist and lead. She’s warm, impulsive, and endlessly dramatic. She’s the sort to dress up for every occasion and see the best in everything. When a tarot reading convinces her that she’s about to die, she commits to preventing fate at all costs. She’s never done anything half-assed in her life. But she’s not clueless! Cordelia knows exactly how strange this all is, and believes it anyway. We’re looking for big physicality, dramatics, and forced smiles. Cordelia is in every scene, and is written as romantic with both Clay & Marleen.Clay: (HE/HIM, 20s). Supporting. Clay is a man who has gotten so comfortable that he's stopped trying. He’s not a villain and certainly not cruel, just oblivious. Clay would rather stay in his ways and bluff than actually put in effort. He’s likeable, because how else would Cordelia have stayed for so long? Appears in two scenes and the montage. Written as romantic with Cordelia.Iris: (SHE/HER, older). Supporting. Iris is a magical tarot reader who knows more than she should and has become thoroughly unimpressed with the world. She’s dry, blunt, and has zero patience for people who won’t take her advice. Less spooky witch and more mystical non-nonsense therapist, even though her cards always seem to find the right person that needs a reading. Iris is meant to appear older than Cordelia, but this can be achieved with makeup & stage presence, so anyone is welcome to audition!Marleen: (SHE/HER, 20s). Featured in one scene. Marleen is a curious girl, and amused by everything. She’s the “something new” from the logline, and represents the Queen of Swords. She’s warm, easy to talk to, and entirely self-assured. Her chemistry with Cordelia should be obvious in her few lines. Marleen is written as romantic (implied) with Cordelia.
